Storyboard
A scene-by-scene plan for a video, showing what appears on screen at each moment.
A storyboard is a sequential plan for a video that describes what appears on screen at each moment, along with any accompanying text, voiceover, or action. For a product launch video, the storyboard translates the script into a production plan.
A simple storyboard for a 30-second SaaS demo might include: Scene 1 (0–3s): on-screen text with the hook; Scene 2 (3–8s): the product URL being pasted; Scene 3 (8–20s): the AI processing and delivering output; Scene 4 (20–27s): the output shown clearly; Scene 5 (27–30s): product name and URL.
Storyboards prevent the most common demo recording mistake: improvising the path through the product and ending up with a disorganized recording that requires heavy editing.
For short-form videos, a storyboard can be as simple as a numbered list of shots with one-sentence descriptions. For longer product demos, a more detailed visual storyboard ensures every scene is planned before recording.
